Youth culture

Youth culture, i.e. the everyday life and the related activities of young people, varies from one country to another. Every society has its customs and unwritten rules, which are based on the norms and values of that country. It is very important to discover the meaning of these partly hidden norms and values since it is the only way to understand what is suitable and proper behaviour in various situations.

We all apply these unwritten guidelines at home, at school, at work and in our leisure time. In case a person comes from another country with a different cultural background, it may take some time to adapt oneself to the Finnish way of life. These guidelines may in the beginning seem unfamiliar and hard to understand but it is important to follow them because they allow you to adapt to different social settings and situations.
